Review: Captain Marvel (2019) spoiler-free

Here. we. go. Anticipation for this movie was and is huge. So, did it live up to my expectations?

Disclosure: This will not be a big review because NO spoilers are allowed here!

Captain Marvel is the latest MCU release. Set in the 90s, it did have a pretty cool vibe to it. Other than this, I really can’t say ANYTHING in order to keep this spoiler-free.

My opinion, however, I can share. This is a review.

Going into this film, I didn’t have big expectations. Frankly, I feared that I might not like Carol Danvers, I don’t know why. Probably because I was afraid they wouldn’t be able to create a strong, independent, yet still “emotions-having”, female character like advertised. Badass female characters usually lack any type of emotion, besides anger, which makes them inhuman to me and I end up not liking them too much. On the other hand, I can’t stand too emotional characters at all. So there’s quite a small margin of error for me. This film showed me that it is possible to create such great characters. I really like Carol Danvers. And Brie Larson is perfect for this role.

This movie had me laughing, had me crying; I was shocked, I was surprised, I was in awe, and, until the very last second of the post-credit scenes, on edge.

I will not say anything because I really can’t deal with any kind of spoilers, especially when it’s Marvel, so I’m not doing that to you.

letterboxd rating: 4.5 out of 5

After seeing this, I can’t wait to see what’s next. And Avengers: Endgame is next month already. I am: close to death.

Needless to say, definitely go watch this movie!!!
