Sunshine Blogger Award

Hello everybody!!

Thanks to Belle for nominating me for the sunshine blogger award! I always enjoy reading her posts and think her blog is so good, so definitely check her out!!

Rules:

  1. Thank the blogger who nominated you in a blog post and link back to their blog.
  2. Answer the 11 questions the blogger asked you.
  3. Nominate 11 new blogs to receive the award and write them 11 new questions.
  4. List the rules and display the sunshine blogger award logo in your post/or on your blog.

What was your first blog post? (sorry, if this makes any of you cringe haha!)

Oh.. I had to think back for this one. My first (public 😉 ) blog post was this Easy Studying (tips & tricks)! I have to say I still stand by those so if you’re having struggles studying, check it out!

Are there any “buzzwords” in book synopses that make you pick up a book without fail?

Definitely any type of representation you don’t get to see often; an ethnicity, sexual orientation, mental illness, place, anything! Other than that, I usually enjoy anything “heist”-related. I’m also quite fond of “unusual” – when a synopsis describes the plot or characters with this word. “Time travel” is also a good shout!

What marginalized rep would you most strongly like to see more of in books?

As much as I think this would make a bigger impact onscreen, interracial couples. They’re fetishized a lot of the times and I think the issue is the little representation. Of course there are so many more under represented groups.

What are your favorite books this year?

I’ve had quite a few good books this year. To name a few: Autoboyography, The Kind Worth Killing, Brief Answers To The Big Questions, Born a Crime: Stories From a South African Childhood and a couple more!

Is there a bookish trend or trope you wish would end?

I honestly can’t think of one. Yes there are some cliché ones but frankly, if they’re done well, I don’t even mind them too much.

What’s your favorite post you’ve written?

I really enjoyed writing my Let’s Talk Bookish – Advice for Newbie Bloggers! My Us (2019) review was also kinda cool, if I do say so myself. And it was really nice to share a bit about myself in the Book Blog Newbie Tag.

More than one post, yes.. but I usually enjoy writing most of my posts so I can’t really choose!

What’s the funniest movie you’ve ever seen?

I couldn’t say. So I’ll just share a funny movie I saw recently which is Long Shot (2019)!

What’s the best joke you’ve heard? (can you tell I need a laugh .)

You know what, I haven’t heard a good joke in a while. One I read recently is “Today at the bank, an old lady asked me to help check her balance. So I pushed her over.”

Who’s your favorite musical artist?

I don’t think I have one? I like a lot of different artists. What I’ve been enjoying lately is a lot of Danna Paola, DaBaby, YBN Cordae and various Spanish artists. I’ve also been listening to Brockhampton’s new album.

Is there anything exciting happening currently or soon in your life?

Well like I said in my last post I just started law school a couple of weeks ago so that’s pretty exciting! I’m also going to a concert in a week!! I genuinely live for concerts.

What is your favorite quote?

Not necessarily my favourite since, once again, I don’t think I have one, but two I really like are “Enjoy the little things.” or “Life doesn’t wait.” Interpret however you want.

My nominations:

Portia @ The Owlery Reader Laurel @ Laurel’s Code Rafaela @ The Portuguese Bibliophile Blair @ Feed The Crime Emer @ A Little Haze Book Blog Rukky @ Eternity Books Beth @ Reading Every Night Sara @ The Bibliophagist Rain @ The Withering Hamad @ The Book Prescription Sofi @ A Book. A Thought.

And of course anybody who’s reading this and wants to do it!

My questions (I included a couple from Belle!):

  1. What was your first blog post?
  2. What’s the best film you’ve seen this year? Why?
  3. Where’s the best place you’ve ever been (on holiday)?
  4. What’s your favourite post you’ve written?
  5. Would you rather be the hero in a story or the villain? Why?
  6. Is there anything you’re excited for in 2020 (bookish or non-bookish)?
  7. Do you have a favourite word?
  8. What’s one song you think everybody should listen to?
  9. Are you a plot person or a characters person?
  10. What’s one thing that’s on your bucket list?
  11. What is the best thing that happened to you during the past week?

Thanks again to Belle and I hope you enjoyed reading my answers as much as I did writing them!

Are there any questions I answered similarly to how you would? What are your answers? Let me know!! 🙂

  1. Woah, good luck on your law school journey!! I loved reading your answers, and that joke made me chuckle 😂. Interracial couples definitely need more representation both on and offscreen. Also, Born A Crime has been on my TBR ever since it came out—I’m glad to hear you liked it! “Life doesn’t wait” is a really nice quote (I don’t know if I have the same interpretation as you, but it’s something to think about haha). Thanks so much for the kind words, Heran, and awesome answers ❤️😁!

  3. Thank you for the nomination, I promise I’ll get around to this eventually, haha! Your questions look really interesting so I’m excited to answer them. Your study tips post is really great, I’m not at uni anymore but there’s a few in there I wish I’d thought of whilst I was studying! I hope law school is going well for you so far.

Finland hasn’t been on my travel list but the way you describe it, maybe it should be! I’ve also always wanted to visit Iceland!
