Happy Monday guys!
Uni has been taking up so much of my time but I’m trying to be as active as possible!!
So, another Monday, another Goodreads recommendation! Goodreads Monday is a weekly meme that was started by Lauren’s Page Turners.
What you do is pretty simple. Choose a random book from your TBR and explain why you want to read it!
(What I like about this meme is how it makes you remember books on your TBR that you might have forgotten about or not have had in mind for a while.)
Optimists Die First (by Susin Nielsen)
Life ahead: Proceed with caution.
Sixteen-year-old Petula De Wilde is anything but wild. A family tragedy has made her shut herself off from the world. Once a crafting fiend with a happy life, Petula now sees danger in everything, from airplanes to ground beef.
The worst part of her week is her comically lame mandatory art therapy class. She has nothing in common with this small band of teenage misfits, except that they all carry their own burden of guilt.
When Jacob joins their ranks, he seems so normal and confident. Petula wants nothing to do with him, or his prosthetic arm. But when they’re forced to collaborate on a unique school project, she slowly opens up, and he inspires her to face her fears.
Until a hidden truth threatens to derail everything.
Why this book?
I have to say I’m not exactly sure why I had put this in my TBR but now rereading the synopsis, I think that might have been it. I also have a vague memory of a booktuber raving about this book and then seeing its mediocre reviews. I think I just want to read it myself.
What do you think? Would you want to read it? Or have you already? Let me know!
